Over 200 dishes for Ramadan treat by Concorde Hotel
A total of 400kg of rice, 8kg of dried shrimps and 50kg of meat were used at the annual charity event by the Shah Alam hotel.

Concorde Hotel Shah Alam kick started its Ramadan with free bubur lambuk early this month.

The annual tradition by the hotel was part of the hotel’s contribution to the community.

The cooking of the bubur lambuk started at 8.30am, where the hotel’s management team played assistant chefs for the day.

A total of 400kg of rice, eight kilos of dried shrimp and 50kg of meat were used.

It was distributed to the Rumah Anak-Anak Yatim Aman, Section 2, Masjid Negri, Section 8 and 9 Surau and Sekolah Tahfiz Section 11 in Shah Alam.

For this Ramadan, the hotel’s Melting Pot Cafe is dishing out over 200 dishes daily as part of its buffet spread with three rotated menus.

Themed Selera Warisan, the buffet spread features a mixture of Middle Eastern, local and international cuisines to suit everyone’s tastebud.

Executive chef Ghazali Hashim said some of the signature dishes for this fasting month were Whole Baked Salt Crust Salmon, Sup Gearbox, Nasi Kukus and a variety of kerabu.

He said some of the local favourites like Kari Kepala Ikan, Paru Paru Goreng Chili and a variety of ikan goreng were also available in the buffet spread. 

“We have a mixture of Mediterranean, Western and and also regional dishes from different states.

“We have Tapai Pulut with Daun Getah and Ubi and Cendol Melaka Gula Kabung in the dessert section,” he said.

Ghazali recommended the Salmon which was not salty even though it was baked with salt.

General manager Karl L. Muir said last year they had about 19,000 people dining at the hotel over the Ramadan month. 

“We have to buy 3,000kg of bones for the sup gearbox, which are ordered in advance as well as 300kg of rice and 450 whole lamb to name a few.

“We prepare accordingly and we have been doing well for the past 14 years,” said Muir. 

He said their aim was to provide value for money good quality meals that would ensure an unforgettable dining experience. 

The buffet that will be available until Sept 9 was priced at RM79++ per person (adult) and RM39.50++ (child). 

Enjoy 20% discount on the last three days.

For private dining at level 2 the price is RM75++ per person, subjected to minimum booking of 150 pax.
