If you are looking for a unique place to break fast this Ramadan, then make a date with friends and family at the Passage Thru India, a place renowned for its authentic Indian cuisine.
Passage Thru India manager Siva Selva said the restaurant’s name reflects the journey to the enjoyment of Indian food, as diners will get to experience a culinary adventure and taste the specialities from various Indian regions.
“We offer a wide variety of Indian cuisine from all the regions of India,” he said.
“Our Ramadan buffet spread is a great opportunity for diners to sample everything from our restaurant menu at a very affordable price.”
For starters, warm your tummy with a bowl of Mutton Bone Soup, or savour some crunchy Pappadoms.
Those who would like some greens can take their pick from assorted salads such as Fish Mayonnaise, Fish Salad, Pineapple Salad and Mixed Raitha.
A house speciality that is available only during Ramadan is the Roast Lamb, which Siva said would go well with Mint Chutney.
“What makes our Roast Lamb different is that it is infused with Indian herbs and spices, and roasted in a coal oven, before it is grilled on an open fire to give it the final touch,” he said.
Siva also recommended other specialities like the Chicken Tandoori and Chicken Briyani, which he said are prepared using the traditional methods.
Other main dishes served at the buffet table include Fried Prawns, Fried Chilli Crab, Chicken Hyderabhadi, Bendhi Masala, Gobhi 65’, Vegetable Palak, Marina Meen, Mutton Roghun Josh and Chicken Rendang.
These dishes can be eaten either with Naans, Briyani or white rice.
Passage Thru India’s most popular dessert is its Kulfi Ice Cream.
“Our Kulfi Ice Cream is made fresh daily using saffron, pure cow’s milk and cardamom. It is a very rich, sweet and traditional Indian dessert,” said Siva.
Other Indian sweet treats include Ladoo, Mysore Pak, Jelebi, Payasam, Gulab Jamun, Rasmalai and Bholi.
Those who are not so fond of sweet desserts can opt for some local fruits to complete their meal.
“The main dishes for the Ramadan buffet are changed daily, so diners are assured of a variety of Indian cuisine to savour,” said Siva.
Diners would also enjoy the experience of having a meal at the thematic Indian restaurant that features furniture, lanterns, paintings, colourful fabrics and other decorative pieces, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a village in India.
Passage Thru India’s Ramadan buffet is priced at RM43 nett for adults.
Senior citizens and children aged six to 12 get to dine at half price. It is available from 6.30pm till 10.30pm, from now till Sept 9.
The Ramadan buffet is only available at the Passage Thru India’s Jalan Tun Razak outlet.
