Japan’s XEX is more than the authentic Japanese cuisine and Italian cuisine restaurant.

Singapore, July 25, 2009 - Japan’s XEX (pronounced zecks) restaurant has wowed its Japanese patrons not just with its higher-than-usual bills but its ambience and entertainment factor.
And this is what it plans to replicate at ION Orchard.
“More than the authentic Japanese cuisine and Italian cuisine we serve, it’s the whole dining experience that makes us different from other Japanese restaurants,” says Naoko Takemoto, who manages Japanese company Y Table Corporation’s overseas ventures.
The company picked Singapore to house its first XEX restaurant outside of Japan, because it’s strategically located and has been “in the limelight” of late.
Although the Y Table Corporation has a clutch of different restaurants, XEX’s trademark is that it is a “complex” with an authentic Italian restaurant, Japanese restaurant, a bar and lounge.
“At our existing XEX restaurants in Japan, we have been providing new and highest quality of dining experience with authentic dishes and cordial hospitality, which you cannot enjoy at any other restaurants. We believe XEX Singapore will introduce an innovative, one-and-only restaurant concept here too,” she says.
The restaurant at ION is even slightly bigger than the XEX restaurants in Japan, covering 1,200 sq metres over two floors. “We expect to have 250 seats in total,” she says.
What will set XEX here apart is the fact that it will occasionally host “celebrity” chefs, both Japanese and Italian.
The promise of excellent service certainly sounds good – that alone should set it apart from a fair number of restaurants in Singapore.
