He had won four passes to an eat-all, drink-all Oktoberfest party. But it was also his wife's birthday the same day.

Still Mr Sukhjit Singh had no trouble persuading his wife, Ms Mohan Kaur, to go for the AsiaOne event.

"I love the four-letter word… beer!" said a tongue-in-cheek Ms Kaur, who was treated to wonderful brews of exactly that at Paulaner Brauhaus on Tuesday evening.

It was especially delightful for Ms Kaur to celebrate her birthday with revelries of drinking, feasting, and games – a departure from the normal restaurant meal.

Mr Singh was one of 40 AsiaOne readers and friends who attended a special party at Millenia Walk's famous microbrewery.

Last month, AsiaOne readers were asked to share their most outrageous or memorable drinking outing.

Ten entries were selected, and winners got the opportunity to take their friends to the event held in conjunction with one of Germany's most loved festivals, Oktoberfest.

Besides toasting to free-flow booze, attendees were treated to signature pork knuckle dishes and Bavarian-flavoured sausages.

Mr Tommy Chia was so delighted at winning that he wasted no time in rounding up his siblings, Yvonne and Peter to join him.

Mr Chia, also a regular AsiaOne reader, appreciates the news and lifestyle portal for its regular updates and never misses the top ten stories.

Although his sister Yvonne is not a regular visitor currently, she plans to go to the site more often and look out for other exciting contests.

Free-flow beer was not everyone's favourite beverage that evening. For Mr Singh's sons Harvey and Kevin, they were thankful for the free-flow soft drinks instead.

One was the designated driver and the other had to return to his army camp the next day.
