Foodies can still eat like kings without burning a hole in their pockets.Here's a list of eateries with value-for-money gourmet fare, from sashimi to steaks.

FOIE GRAS
The French Stall

Where: 544 Serangoon Road, tel: 6299-3544, 3 to 10pm (for drinks and dessert, but dinner starts at 6pm), Tuesdays to Sundays, closed on Mondays
What: The eatery uses foie gras from France for its pan-fried foie gras dish and the liver is served on a bed of spinach with a vinegar jus
Cost: $22.80 for a serving of foie gras, which weighs between 80g and 90g

RIBEYE STEAK
Astons Specialities
Where:
Three outlets, including 2 Handy Road, 04-03, The Cathay Building, tel: 6887-5889, 11.30am to 10pm daily
What: The restaurant uses New Zealand beef for its ribeye steak. If you are prepared for a frills-free meal, head over to one of its seven Astons Express outlets, including the stall in the coffee shop at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8, Block 721, 01-2823, (11am to 10pm daily) where the same order goes for 60 cents less.
Cost: $16.50 for 250g of prime ribeye steak, which comes with two side dishes

DUCK LEG CONFIT
La Petite Cuisine

10 Jalan Serene, 01-05, Serene Centre, tel: 6314-3173, 11.30am to 2.30pm, Tuesdays to Sundays, 5.30 to 9.30pm, Mondays to Sundays
What: The casual eatery uses fresh duck legs from Malaysia for its duck leg confit with gratin potatoes and red wine sauce.
Cost: $15

CHILLI CRAB
Owen Seafood Restaurant
Where: 200 Turf Club Road, 03-03, main grandstand, Turf City, tel: 6875-1895, 11.45am to 10pm daily
What: Seafood goes for half-price at the restaurant during weekdays, so diners get to enjoy its Sri Lankan chilli crabs cheap.
Cost: $28 per kg (after the 50 per cent discount on weekdays) for Sri Lankan crabs whose total weight is more than 1kg.

SALMON SASHIMI
Sashimi House Sakuraya
Where:
370 Alexandra Road, 01-32, Anchorpoint, tel: 6474-2495, 11.30am to 2.30pm and 6 to 10.30pm daily
What: The restaurant imports its own Norwegian farmed salmon directly to keep costs down. It also has two retail stores in South Buona Vista Road and Parkway Parade which come with dining areas where customers can enjoy the fish for much less ($6.80 for 100g).
Cost: $9 for five slices, which weigh some 50g

QUESADILLA
The Mexican Taco Bar
Where:
51 Changi Business Park, The Signature, 8am to 6pm, Mondays to Fridays, 9am to 3pm, Saturdays, closed on Sundays
What: Expect authentic Mexican food at this food court outlet, such as its best-seller, beef quesadillas, which comes packed with cheese, mushrooms, bell peppers, grilled onions and beef and topped with salsa, sour cream and guacamole.
Cost: $7.50

BURGER
Hotshots Flame-Grilled Burgers
Where:
18 Raffles Quay, stall 76, Lau Pa Sat, 11am to 11pm, Mondays to Saturdays, noon to 9pm, Sundays
What: This Filipino burger chain makes its beef burger patties from scratch by hand, and does not bulk up its patties with meat substitutes such as textured vegetable protein.
Cost: $5 for its quarter-pound flame-grilled burger with mayonnaise, tomatoes, onions and lettuce.

PIZZA
ROC Pizza
Where
: 505 Beach Road, 01-109, Golden Mile Food Centre, 12.30 to 9pm, Tuesdays to Sundays, closed on Mondays
What: The tomato sauce used in the thin-crust pizza is made by hand at the stall using whole peeled tomatoes from Italy.
Cost: $7 for a 12-inch margherita pizza, which comes topped with cheddar cheese and mozzarella
