Corduroy Cafe

LIKE the material it's named after, this cafe dishes out food that makes you feel comfy and good inside out. It has a cosy decor to match, too.
The food served here may be simple and staple but it's prepared with high-quality, fresh ingredients. This is evident as you tuck into its signature dish - Eggs Benedict ($15) which is served all day.
The soft poached eggs are perched on honey-baked ham, organic spinach and soft home-made muffins freshly made every day.
The light hollandaise sauce caps the dish wonderfully, building up the overall flavours of each ingredient.
The cafe's Lord of the Stew aka executive chef Jeffrie, admits that he is quite health conscious and this is clearly shows in his dishes - tasty yet light without being too rich and heavy.
Jeffrie, who has over 20 years as a European cuisine chef - spent mostly in South Africa - says he is proud of his Coq au Vin ($19).
"What? That's French to me," I think silently. In English, it's simply braised chicken in red wine sauce.
Again, this hearty dish, which comes with a serving of mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli and carrots, is easy to eat - without a trace of greasiness or sinful richness.
Also try: waffles & pancakes.
Verdict: Delicious and wholesome Eggs Benedict that doesn't make the weight-conscious, conscious.
