Sawadee! Introducing Chenin Blanc (above, left) and Tempranillo... er..from Thailand!

For the first time in Singapore, a hypermarket is offering shoppers a free sampling of Thai wines which are usually available in Thai restaurants only. And one of them is an international award winner!

Two wines are available for sampling from May 16 to 29 at Giant Tampines, from 11am to 9pm:

1) Pirom-Khao Yai Reserve Tempranillo 2006
This award-winner from Khao Yai Winery is well-structured with a garnet-red hue and red berry flavours, combined with sensuous notes of vanilla, cedar and soft spices. It won gold at the prestigious International Wine Competition. Partly aged in French oak for 12 months.

2) PB Khao Yai Reserve Chenin Blanc 2005
Refreshing. Floral and fruity aromas of the tropics. Balance of sweetness and mellow acidity. Long finish.

And the best food to pair with the Thai wines? Thai food of course!

The wine sampling is part of Thai Trade Center's annual ‘Thai Discovery’ fair which will showcase food and beverage products from Thai restaurants such as Lerk Thai, Tuk Tuk and Chiang Mai Thai Dessert. Enjoy uniquely Thai delights like Sticky Rice with Mango and Phuket Lager Beer.
