I first visited 3-Monkeys in Macau, as I live in Hong Kong and spend the occasional weekend at The Venetian Hotel and Resort where the 3-Monkeys outlet sits prominently in the Grand Canal Mall there. Its an obvious favourite with my 4 year old!
The Group has 3 restaurants – a franchised Macau restaurant/bar, its original Cafe at Orchard Towers (since ‘97) where Kumar performs every Friday and Saturday night at 11pm and this NEW restaurant which has found a home at Holland Village.
My little monkey recognized the outlet straight away as we walked to the bank past the famous Holland Village row of shop houses. So we ended up stopping for a fruity BANANA BLENDED DRINK which they are famous for and some FAJITAS (choose from Chicken, Beef or Shrimp). These are the best I have ever had as they are served with warm tortillas, sour cream, guacamole and salsa…yum.
More than just bananas, there is a good variety to choose from in terms of eats.
Try the MIGHTY JOE BURGER – a juicy 5-inch tall whopping 230gram flame-grilled Australian beef patty with double cheese and double ham, the GARLIC PRAWN SIZZLER with king prawns and fragrant chunks of garlic served in a sizzling hot plate. There is also a nice wide selection of BURRITOS, TACOS and QUESADILLAS too, as the Mexicana flavour here prevails. If it’s a more Asian taste you are after, the INDONESIAN NASI GORENG and the THAI TOM YAM are excellent!
For dessrt think towering ice cream sundaes, an array of brownies, banana splits, crepe suzette, banana, mango or blueberry crepes with a generous dollop of ice cream that would rival Swensons any day. Mum’s and Grans get their desserts FOC with every mains ordered for the Mother’s Day weekend (today. Sat. 9 May and tomorrow, Sun.10 May).
