There’s usually a relaxed feel to dining in a clubhouse environment.

Perhaps it’s because most clubhouses are located away from the hustle and bustle of heavy human traffic, especially on weekdays.

At D’Cuisines Restaurant - situated at the SIA Sports Club – you get to enjoy views of the pool and greenery while dining in air-conditioned comfort.

What’s unique about this restaurant is that it serves both Indian and Chinese cuisines.

A tandoor oven stands ostentatiously at its entrance, while another is put to good use in the kitchen – churning out a variety of scrumptious delights like Tandoori Chicken, Malai Kebab, Fish Tikka and Tandoori Prawn.

If you are dining as a family, dishes like the Malai Kebab ($12/$19/$26) would be a good choice.

The kids will love the boneless chunks of chicken, which are mildly spiced and very tender, and go well with the Naan (plain/garlic/butter).

The naan, triangular pieces of Indian bread, are imbued with flavour as they are cooked in the tandoor oven instead of over a grill. And they’re perfect for mopping up curry gravy like that of the Prawn Masala ($15/$25/35)!

Though the pleasant nuances of exotic Indian spices are clearly discernible in the gravy, they aren’t overpowering at all.

If you believe that variety is the spice of life, you’ll be delighted – not stumped – by the wide selection of Chinese dishes on the menu.

If you prefer simple yet nutritious home-style dishes, the Fried Beans with Belacan ($10/$15/$20) – consisting of crunchy long beans, lady’s fingers, egg plant and petai beans – fits the bill.

When entertaining guests, the Braised Duck with Sea Cucumber ($30/$60) will impress.

This lipsmacking dish comprises wonderfully tender duck which has been marinated, fried, then steamed.

It is braised in a rich, viscous gravy with sweet beans, sea cucumber, straw and button mushrooms, and carrots.

Those who would rather not plough through the extensive number of choices can opt for any of the South Indian Set Meals ($6.50 – $12) or Chinese Set Meals (for two to 10 persons, from $38 – $688).

This place is also a suitable venue for family celebrations and other functions, as there are private rooms for such occasions.
