SINGAPORE – Where do travellers like to eat when they are in Singapore?
A TripAdvisor weekly report reveals that visitors to the city like Italian food, cocktail bars, dining in the dark, some Asian cuisine and the occassional splurge at hotel restaurants.
The trip review website released its inaugural Buzz Report which names the city’s most popular eateries, attractions and accommodations, according to reviews and opinions from fellow Singaporeans and global travellers.
The TripAdvisor April Buzz Report is based on the TripAdvisor Popularity Index for the week of April 8. The Index ranks businesses according to the quality, quantity and recency of traveller reviews and opinions submitted on the website.
Italian restaurant Ristorante Amarone, located in the CBD, was this week’s No. 1 restaurant based on the Index. A traveller from the UK, Traveller10205, wrote this about the restaurant on the website: “The restaurant itself looks elegant and has a sense of class! The service was very attentive and one waiter, in particular, was great – very amusing! The food was tasty, and the wine was equally good. As a nice little touch at the end of your night, the restaurant takes a photo of you/your group and offers to email it to you.”
With the growing popularity of cocktail and whiskey bars here, TripAdvisor also said in a recent statement that “it is not surprising to see three such bars ranking within the top ten eateries in Singapore, with Bitters & Love, The Auld Alliance and Longtail Asian Brasserie & Bar placed 4th, 8th and 9th respectively.” GDTar of UK said this about Bitters & Love: “By far the best bar we visited in Singapore.”
For those looking for a more adventurous dining experience, there is also NOX – Dine in the Dark, which emerged 7th in the list. Zesilvaportugal of Portugal said: “The best is the experience, definitely one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. Been twice and I’ll be back to experience it again with family and close friends.”
