yes i also tried the chicken rice at downtown east with my family recently on a weekend. very disappointing - chicken was tasteless, rice not flavoursome, chilly not fresh nor spicy. other dishes are just ordinary. it's a self service shop and dont expect any service from counter. would i return - NO would i recommend others - NO suggest reviewers go back and try again. other better chicken rice - Boon Tong Kee, basement of Katong Shopping Centre, FJ food court at Raffles City and Great World City, Kampong Chicken at Outram Road, etc

I still prefer old Swee Kee at middle rd.

not impressed with the one at downtown east wtih exorbitant price to it. go take a look, they kill mosquitoes in the afternoon, that's how good business as this joint is.
