Like Singapore, Hong Kong is world-reowned as a food paradise. You can get a taste of a very popular dish originating from this vibrant city - Hong Kong-Style Steamed Fish. This simple but delectable dish consists of a generous portion of fresh white fish fillet steamed in a special sauce made from a secret recipe, and topped with coriande and spring onion. You can also choose from a wide selection of other fish like white pomfret, sea bass and garoupa, and decide how you want the fish to be cooked. - Sheila Lim
I read the good review about the Crab Bee Hoon and took the wife there today. The Crab tasted like cardboard and the roe was solid hard. Realised that the crab was not fresh at all. Probably left over from last night. It's a pity because it pushes me to write in and tell everyone about my bad experience.
Try the craypot crab-meehoon at Don's Pie located near China Square along the main street within one of the conservation old shop houses. For a S$16 one gets a good portion for one person. I have tried so often and always get very fresh meaty crab cooked well with wine (I guessed so) and thick broth. Their Pie is equally good and a must buy for breakfast. The shop-house is air conditioned and has a well maintained washroom. Go for it and make your dollar stretched. Many crab beehoon in many heartlander kopi-shops are charging exhorbitant prices! Worst of all are the toilets that are usually stink, choked with tissue and unflushed WC. Got appetite?
none of my friends have anything good to say after trying food at Geylang. Most of them were ripped off. So much for good food recommendations.
At Heng Kee House of Steamed Fish, the Crab Stewed with Bee Hoon tastes much better then XO craypot Crab Bee Hoon. But find their price quite costly. Min $56 for stewed while Min $60 for craypot. Not worth it.
